Practical safety tips for your home

You do not have to be an electrician to keep your home safer. These basic habits and awareness points can help reduce risk.

Full Safety Guide
Know where your main breaker is. In an emergency — like a burning smell or a sparking outlet — being able to cut power quickly matters. Make sure every adult in the household knows where the panel is and how to shut off the main breaker.
Do not overload power strips. Power strips are not a long-term solution for a lack of outlets. Plugging too many high-draw devices into a single strip creates a real overheating risk. Have additional outlets installed where you need them.
Keep electricity away from water. This one is basic but worth repeating. Never use electrical appliances near wet surfaces. If your bathroom outlets do not have GFCI protection, they should — it is a code requirement and a meaningful safety upgrade.
Do not ignore small warning signs. A warm outlet, a light that flickers intermittently, or a switch that buzzes are not normal. They are often early signs of a wiring issue that is better addressed before it becomes a larger problem.

What customers say about us

"I had three outlets stop working at the same time and wasn't sure if it was serious. Marcus came out the next morning, found a tripped GFCI I didn't know existed in my garage, and had everything working in about 20 minutes. Explained the whole thing clearly. Very reasonable."

Karen M.
Capitol Hill, Seattle · Outlet Repair

"Our kitchen lights were flickering on and off for months and we kept putting it off. Diana diagnosed a loose neutral connection at the fixture box and fixed it the same day. Wish we had called sooner — it was not an expensive repair at all."

Jeff & Tamara L.
Madrona, Seattle · Lighting Repair

"Got a full panel inspection before listing our home. The report was clear, thorough, and helped us address two minor issues before the buyer's inspection. The process was professional and the cost was fair. Would use them again."

Priya S.
Leschi, Seattle · Panel Inspection

"Breaker for our master bedroom kept tripping every few days. Turned out we had two high-draw items on the same circuit. The team rerouted one of them and the issue is completely resolved. Straightforward work, no upselling."

Robert A.
Montlake, Seattle · Breaker Repair

"I appreciated that they explained what they were doing as they worked. No jargon, no rushed explanations. The estimate matched the final invoice and they cleaned up completely before leaving."

Melissa T.
Madison Park, Seattle · General Repair

"We had some older wiring in a rental property that was a concern. They did a thorough evaluation and gave us a clear picture of what needed to be done immediately versus what could wait. That kind of honesty is rare."

Why Circuit Breakers Trip and What It Means

If your home is more than 30 years old, the wiring deserves a closer look. Here is what to watch for and when to act.

What to do in an electrical emergency

Electrical emergencies are uncommon, but knowing how to respond can prevent injury and property damage. These are the basic steps.

Call Us: (724) 247-9068
If you see sparks or smoke from an outlet or switch: Do not try to unplug anything. Immediately go to your electrical panel and turn off the circuit or the main breaker. Do not use the outlet until it has been inspected.
If there is an electrical fire: Do not use water — it conducts electricity. Use a Class C fire extinguisher if one is available and the fire is small. If the fire is growing, evacuate and call 911.
If someone receives an electrical shock: Do not touch them while they may still be in contact with the source. Cut the power first if you safely can. Call 911 immediately — even shocks that appear minor should be evaluated medically.
If your power goes out on one side of the house: Check your breaker panel for a tripped breaker. If all breakers appear fine, the issue may be with the utility service. Contact your utility company to report an outage.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit for electrical repairs? +
It depends on the scope of work. Simple repairs — like replacing an outlet or a light fixture — typically do not require a permit. Larger projects such as panel upgrades or adding new circuits may require one. We will let you know what is needed before beginning any work.
What areas do you serve? +
We primarily serve Seattle and the surrounding neighborhoods — including Capitol Hill, Madrona, Montlake, Eastlake, Leschi, Madison Park, and nearby communities. Contact us if you are unsure whether we cover your area.
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade or just a repair? +
That is something we determine during an inspection. Not every electrical issue requires a panel upgrade. Many problems can be resolved with targeted repairs. We will give you an honest assessment of what your panel actually needs, not a recommendation to replace things that do not need replacing.
How long does a typical service visit take? +
A diagnostic visit typically takes 45 to 90 minutes. Simple repairs like outlet or switch replacement can often be completed in the same visit. More complex work such as wiring troubleshooting or panel inspection may take two to four hours. We will give you a time estimate before the visit.
What information should I have ready when I call? +
It helps to know roughly when the issue started, whether it is limited to one area or the whole house, whether your panel is old or has been recently replaced, and the age of your home if you know it. You do not need to be an expert — just describe what you are experiencing and we will take it from there.
Do you provide written estimates? +
Yes. After diagnosing the issue, we will provide a written estimate before any repair work begins. We want you to understand what you are agreeing to pay before we start. If the scope of work changes during the repair, we discuss it with you before proceeding.
